Spied: Renault Triber to get turbo with CNG powertrain option

Key highlights

  • Renault Triber CNG spotted with turbo badge
  • Launch expected by Diwali 2026
  • To rival the Maruti Ertiga CNG

Ever since the Triber MPV was introduced in India, it has lacked two main aspects: power and a CNG option. Now, the brand is soon going to iron out both of these drawbacks. The latest spy shots have emerged from Pune, where a test mule of the Triber was spotted with a CNG sticker on the rear windshield and a turbo badge, confirming that the Triber turbo CNG will launch soon.

Renault Triber Turbo CNG: What to expect?

New Renault Triber Turbo CNG Spied

As seen in the new spy shots, the test unit of the Triber was spotted undisguised. Since this will be a new powertrain, there won’t be any exterior or interior updates, save for the new ‘Turbo’ badge on the tailgate.

Renault had earlier confirmed that it will soon launch a turbo and CNG version, but it did not confirm whether the CNG engine will get a turbo. The new spy shot has confirmed that the Triber CNG won’t be less powerful, as it will feature the Renault Kiger-sourced 999cc three-cylinder turbo engine, which will be paired with an underbody CNG tank (estimated).

This engine makes a healthy 99 bhp of power in the Kiger, and we can safely say that this figure will see a slight drop due to the CNG powertrain. However, a turbo and CNG combination is perfect for users with high annual running. Tata’s Nexon turbo CNG is a prime example of this.

Since the CNG powertrain will be more suitable for commercial operators and chauffeur-driven customers, we suspect that it won’t get the CVT automatic gearbox option. However, the Renault Triber Turbo is also being developed in parallel, which will feature the CVT gearbox.

As of now, we expect that the Triber Turbo and CNG variants will be launched by Diwali 2026. Due to the new engine and technology, these could be priced at least Rs 60,000 more than the current petrol iteration.
