Simple Energy has entered India’s family electric scooter segment with the launch of the Simple Wave. Designed specifically around everyday family use, the new electric scooter is available in three variants and six models, with prices starting at Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom). Deliveries are scheduled to begin from the last week of September 2026.
The biggest talking point is storage. The Simple Wave offers up to 70 litres of storage, comprising a 63-litre under-seat compartment, a 3-litre glovebox and a new 4-litre auxiliary storage unit called the Pill. Simple Energy claims this is an industry-first feature.
At the top of the range is the Simple Wave+, equipped with a 5 kWh battery. It delivers a claimed 243 km IDC range and a top speed of 90 kmph. The scooter uses a 6.4 kW PMSM motor producing 179 Nm of wheel torque. Other battery options include 3.7 kWh, 2.7 kWh and 2.2 kWh packs, with claimed ranges of 171 km, 132 km and 110 km, respectively.
The Wave uses a chain-drive transmission, while all variants get Ride, Eco and ECOX riding modes. Higher variants also get Sport mode. The scooter has a 1347 mm wheelbase, 150 kg payload capacity, 175 mm ground clearance and a 775 mm seat height. Its 300 mm water-wading capability should also be useful on India’s monsoon-hit urban roads.
Depending on the variant, the Wave gets either a 7-inch TFT or 5-inch EBN display. TFT versions offer Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation, GPS tracking, call and music controls, USB charging and OTA updates. Higher variants also get traction control, regenerative braking, hill hold assist, reverse mode and crawl mode.
Charging support includes standard and fast charging. The Wave+ can charge from 0-80% in as little as 2 hours 15 minutes using fast charging.
