Key highlights
- Ather has crossed 8 lakh cumulative retail sales in India
- 59% of its total sales have come between January 2025 and September 2026
- The company is targeting further growth with the new Konarc electric scooter
Ather Energy has crossed the 8 lakh cumulative retail sales milestone in India, becoming the fourth electric two-wheeler manufacturer in the country to reach the mark after Ola Electric, TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto through its Chetak brand. The milestone was crossed on September 28, 2026, based on Vahan registration data.
Ather began retailing its electric scooters in India in 2018. The company’s growth has accelerated considerably in recent years, with 4.75 lakh scooters, or around 59% of its cumulative sales, coming between January 2025 and September 28, 2026. The Rizta family scooter has been a major contributor to this growth.
Journey from 1 lakh to 8 lakh
Ather crossed the 1 lakh cumulative sales mark in 2023 and recorded 1.36 lakh units in 2024. Its highest monthly retail sales came in March 2026, when it registered 36,633 units.
The company also crossed the 30,000-unit monthly sales mark four times in the 12 months since October 2025, highlighting the acceleration in its sales volumes.
In August 2026, Ather dispatched 29,694 scooters to dealers. The Rizta accounted for 76% of these volumes, while the 450 series contributed 23%. The recently launched Konarc accounted for 217 units in its first month.
Konarc to drive the next phase
The Konarc is positioned against mainstream electric scooters such as the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Hero Vida VX2, Simple Wave and Ola S1 Z.
Ather chief business officer Ravneet Phokela has indicated that the Konarc’s higher margins make the potential overlap with the Rizta less concerning for the company. Ather is also looking to use the Konarc to attract customers currently using petrol-powered scooters.
With the Konarc adding to its existing portfolio, Ather is reportedly targeting around 3.5 lakh sales in 2026.
Final thoughts
The 8 lakh milestone is notable less for the headline number and more for how quickly Ather has accumulated its recent volumes. With Rizta driving current sales and Konarc expanding its addressable market, the company’s next phase will be about sustaining that momentum.
