Mahindra’s electric SUV push hits 1 lakh mark in under two years

Key highlights

  • Mahindra has crossed 1 lakh billings for its Electric Origin SUVs in India
  • The milestone covers its XEV 9e and BE 6 electric SUVs
  • The company crossed the mark in September 2026, less than two years after their debut

Mahindra has crossed the 1 lakh billing milestone for its Electric Origin SUVs in India. The milestone was announced as part of the company’s September 2026 sales update and covers the XEV 9e and BE 6, which were launched in late 2024 on Mahindra’s dedicated INGLO electric architecture.

The achievement comes less than two years after the two SUVs made their global debut. Mahindra opened bookings for the range in February 2025, when the XEV 9e and BE 6 together received 30,179 bookings on the first day, representing a booking value of Rs 8,472 crore at ex-showroom prices.

From 30,000 in seven months to 1 lakh

The pace of sales has accelerated considerably since the SUVs entered the market. By November 2025, Mahindra had reported more than 30,000 Electric Origin SUVs on Indian roads in just seven months. At the time, the company said owners had collectively covered more than 200 million kilometres.

The range has since expanded beyond the original two SUVs with the introduction of the XEV 9S, a seven-seat electric SUV also based on the INGLO platform. However, the latest 1 lakh billing milestone specifically refers to the Electric Origin SUV range covered in Mahindra’s September sales announcement.

A new chapter for Mahindra’s EV portfolio

The XEV 9e and BE 6 were conceived as ground-up electric SUVs rather than electrified versions of existing Mahindra models. They use the INGLO architecture and MAIA software platform, with battery options including the 59 kWh and 79 kWh packs.

Mahindra’s expanding Electric Origin portfolio now gives the company a presence across multiple SUV formats, with the XEV 9S adding a larger three-row option.

Well, with the new CAFE-3 norms favouring electric vehicles and with newer models being added to the Born Electric SUV line-up, the road to 2 lakh sales seems much easier.
