Key highlights

  • The Hyundai Bayon will launch in India on October 26, 2026, with bookings open for Rs 11,000.

Hyundai Motor India has revealed the safety package of the upcoming Bayon ahead of its October 26 launch. The company describes the Bayon as an Intelligent Utility Vehicle, built on the Global K Enhanced Platform and engineered to meet five-star Indian safety standards.

The announcement focuses on structural protection, driver assistance technology and safety equipment available across the range. Hyundai has not yet disclosed the SUV’s prices or the full variant-wise equipment list.

High-strength steel and reinforced body structure

Hyundai says 69% of the Bayon’s body structure uses advanced multi-grade high-strength steel, combining hot-stamped steel, ultra-high-strength steel, advanced high-strength steel and high-strength steel.

Hot-stamped components are used in critical areas, including the front apron, dashboard, rear floor and side reinforcements. The body structure also uses multiple load paths and a ring-type design to distribute crash energy and help reduce cabin intrusion.

The company says the platform and body structure have been engineered for five-star Indian safety standards. This is Hyundai’s stated engineering target, not a confirmed crash-test rating from an independent assessment.

Active safety features

The Bayon will offer Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS, comprising 23 driver assistance functions supported by three radars and 12 parking sensors.

Features include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go. Highway Driving Assist and navigation-based cruise control functions are also included.

The SUV will offer a surround-view monitor, blind-spot view monitor and front parking sensors to assist with manoeuvring. Hyundai says the Bayon has more than 35 standard safety features across variants, including six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX mounts and rear parking sensors. ADAS availability may vary by variant.

Engine, colours and bookings

The Bayon will use Hyundai’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder MPi petrol engine, producing 115 PS and 143.8 Nm. Buyers will have a choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).

The SUV will be offered in 10 exterior colour options, including monotone, matte and dual-tone finishes. Bookings are open through Hyundai’s website and authorised dealerships for Rs 11,000.
