Bajaj Auto has launched the Pulsar N250SS in India, updating its quarter-litre streetfighter with more power, an additional gearbox ratio and new technology. Priced at Rs 1,59,406 (ex-showroom Delhi), the N250SS builds on the existing Pulsar N250 with changes aimed at improving both everyday usability and the riding experience.
The update arrives as the Pulsar brand marks its 25th anniversary, with the N250SS receiving a more comprehensive equipment package than its predecessor.
More power and a six-speed gearbox
The Pulsar N250SS uses a four-valve engine producing 25 PS and 22 Nm of torque. These figures represent a modest increase over the existing N250, which produces 24.5 PS and 21.5 Nm.
The more significant mechanical change is the six-speed gearbox, replacing the five-speed unit on the earlier motorcycle. The additional ratio could make the bike more versatile across different riding conditions, although Bajaj has not disclosed changes to its acceleration or top speed.
The motorcycle also gets an Electronic Throttle Body (ETB), enabling selectable ride modes alongside the existing ABS modes. Bajaj has not specified the individual ride-mode settings or their effect on power delivery.
TFT display, Google Maps and Sports Shifter
The earlier LCD instrument console has been replaced by a 5-inch TFT display with Google Maps mirroring. The upgrade adds a more modern interface and navigation functionality.
Another key addition is the Sports Shifter. Bajaj has not detailed its operating mechanism in the press release, so its exact functionality and compatibility with different riding conditions remain to be confirmed.
The N250SS also gets adjustable levers, a USB Type-C charging port, Panic Brake Alert and a hazard switch. These additions bring more convenience and safety-related equipment to the motorcycle.
