Key highlights

  • Denza Z9 GT electric shooting brake reaches dealers
  • Denza is BYD’s premium luxury brand that will debut on November 13
  • Z9 GT is equipped with a triple-motor 1,156 bhp drivetrain

BYD’s luxury brand Denza is all set to step into the Indian premium EV space. Scheduled to debut on November 13 with two models, Denza’s flagship model for the Indian market will be the Z9 GT. The Z9 GT is a unique electric shooting brake, which will be sold in India as a completely built unit (CBU).

The latest sighting of the Z9 GT comes just days ahead of the brand’s India debut. The specific unit was seen with an Emerald Green exterior paint, and it appears to have the same specifications as the other global market specs.

The rear profile of the Z9 GT is visible, which boasts a coupe-like boot with a steeply raked windshield, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a curvy design with large wraparound LED taillights. This one is likely a display model, and it gets the low-profile, lightweight, multi-spoke alloys with rear-wheel steering.

The unique design of the Z9 GT is largely contributed to by its low-slung profile and wider footprint. The front is identical to BYD’s signature design language, with the stretched-out LED lights and a “smiling” fascia with an aerodynamic bumper and a blanked-off grille. The global-spec car also features active aerodynamics, which are likely to be offered in India as well.

Inside, the Z9 GT offers a comfortable cabin for four adults. It gets a massive 17.3-inch central screen along with a 13.2-inch digital driver display and a 13.2-inch passenger infotainment display. Meanwhile, the cabin is loaded with futuristic tech, including the augmented reality HUD, AI-assisted controls, camera-based outside rear-view mirrors, and more.

Comfort and convenience features include ventilated and heated seats with massage function, a dual-pane sunroof, custom cabin LED ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, a Level 2+ ADAS safety package, wireless charging, auto-park assist, a 20-speaker Deviate sound system, and more.

Powering the Z9 GT is a 122.5kWh battery pack that is paired with a triple-motor setup (one at the front and two at the rear axle). This setup offers 1,156 bhp and 1,200 Nm. With this massive power and torque, the Z9 GT can do 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. This makes it quicker than a number of supercars in India. The top speed is limited to 260 km/h, while the WLTP range stands at 600 km.

With that said, the Indian-spec Z9 GT will be announced on November 13. We expect it to be priced around Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom).
