Key highlights
- Pulsar NS400Z gets a new 5-inch TFT console with Google Maps mirroring
- New features include music control, document storage, lap timer and USB Type-C charging
- The 349 cc engine continues to produce 40 PS and 33 Nm, while the updated bike costs Rs 1,90,015
Bajaj Auto has given the Pulsar NS400Z a significant technology upgrade as the flagship naked sports motorcycle enters its latest model year. The biggest change is the addition of a new 5-inch TFT instrument console, which brings navigation and several connected functions to the motorcycle.
The new display supports Google Maps mirroring, along with music control, document storage and a lap timer. Riders can also access the motorcycle’s four ride modes and manage traction control through the new interface. A USB Type-C port and Panic Brake Alert have also been added.
Powertrain
There are no changes to the core powertrain. The NS400Z continues with its 349 cc, four-valve, DOHC, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, producing 40 PS at 9,000 rpm and 33 Nm at 7,500 rpm.
The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and electronic throttle body. The existing package also includes four ride modes, traction control, a 43 mm USD front fork and dual-channel ABS.
Bajaj has also retained the motorcycle’s sporty hardware, including radial tyres and its performance-oriented chassis setup. The update therefore focuses largely on bringing the NS400Z’s technology package in line with newer motorcycles in the Pulsar family.
Price and positioning
The updated Pulsar NS400Z is priced at Rs 1,90,015 ex-showroom, Delhi. This is Rs 4,000 more than the previous version, while the mechanical package remains unchanged.
The update also arrives as Pulsar completes 25 years, adding modern connectivity and convenience features to the largest motorcycle in the NS range.
Final Thoughts
The NS400Z did not really need more power. What it was missing was a more modern interface, and Bajaj has addressed that without altering the motorcycle’s underlying performance package. The new TFT and Google Maps mirroring should make the NS400Z considerably more contemporary, while the relatively small price increase keeps the focus on its existing performance hardware.
