BMW F 450 GS production begins, launch soon?
BMW and TVS formed a collaboration in 2013, hoping to manufacture performance bikes that would eventually be affordable yet quality-rich. Now, after 12 years of this successful partnership, both brands have cumulatively produced over 2 lakh motorcycles, which are being sold worldwide.
Celebrating this new production milestone is the roll-out of the first production unit of the upcoming BMW F 450 GS, an ADV that is set to change the game internationally. Upon launch, the F 450 GS will become the most affordable ADV worldwide.
The mutual partnership is also going to benefit with the newly developed parallel-twin 450 platform. As of now, the F 450 GS remains the sole motorcycle to debut this platform, but in the future TVS will also use the same engine to manufacture its own products, likely under the Apache moniker.
Meanwhile, the international deliveries of the F 450 GS are expected to start soon, and all of those units are being manufactured at the Hosur-based TVS manufacturing plant. BMW has been benefitted by the localisation levels and lower manufacturing costs by TVS for a long time.
Earlier, BMW was selling the 310 GS, which used to be the entry-point in the GS series ADVs. However, BMW axed it a while ago, and it is going to be replaced by the launch of the F 450 GS in India, which is expected to take place in December at the IBW 2025.
The expected price tag of the 450 GS could be somewhere in between Rs 4.5-5 lakh.
