Hero’s Mavrick 440 seems to be staging a comeback and this time, it’s dressed to impress. Spotted during what appears to be a TVC shoot, the updated motorcycle sports golden upside-down forks, a big leap from the standard telescopic setup of the previous version. The fresh design cues and shooting activity strongly suggest Hero is gearing up for a relaunch, probably with a sharper focus on the premium buyer.
When it first launched, the Mavrick 440 positioned itself as the affordable cousin of the Harley-Davidson X440 with the same platform, familiar engine, but with a simpler, more approachable character. Unfortunately, its stripped-down features and conservative styling didn’t quite resonate with enthusiasts. It quietly disappeared from Hero’s website earlier this year, almost as if the brand wanted to hit the reset button.
What’s New This Time?
The golden USD fork instantly gives the Mavrick more presence both visually and dynamically. Paired with a matte grey paint scheme and a bronze engine casing, the bike now looks far more premium than before. It’s a subtle transformation, but one that makes it look more “modern roadster” than “commuter with muscles.”
Spy shots also hint at a TFT display, likely borrowed from the Harley-Davidson X440, complete with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation support. If that’s true, it finally plugs one of the biggest gaps in the earlier model.
Underneath, the same 440cc air- and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine should continue duty, putting out around 27 hp and 36 Nm through a six-speed gearbox. No major performance upgrades have been confirmed yet, but expect Hero to smooth out the throttle and fine-tune the refinement.
Why It Matters
This refresh feels like Hero’s second attempt at cracking the premium code. The brand knows the 400cc segment is heating up — with Royal Enfield, Bajaj, and Honda all upping their game — and the Mavrick 440 could be Hero’s ticket to relevance in that space. With better hardware, a richer design, and more tech on offer, it finally looks ready to take the fight to its rivals.
Interestingly, one of the test units was seen wearing a “Hunk 440” badge, hinting that Hero might use that branding for export markets. For India, though, the Mavrick name is likely here to stay.
