- Hyundai Creta Electric gets BaaS option
- Starting price with battery rental option dropped to Rs 10.99 lakh
- Battery EMI starts at Rs 3.9 per km
Hyundai has introduced the battery rental option for the Creta Electric SUV in India. The battery rental scheme allows users to pay a considerably lower amount upfront and pay per kilometre of use for the battery.
What is the BaaS option for the Hyundai Creta Electric?
The Battery-as-a-Service, aka BaaS, is not a new scheme; rather, it is now becoming a norm for every EV maker to offer the BaaS option for their cars. Hyundai has also added this option for the Creta Electric SUV now. This has dropped the starting price of the electric Creta from Rs 18.90 lakh to Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
As per the details, buyers can opt for different battery rental schemes, including a usage rate of Rs 3.9 per km. The battery rental scheme is perfect for customers with limited use, as it helps in saving the upfront cost and also helps in keeping the running costs in check.
Additionally, Hyundai has reduced the AC wall home charger size. The previous charger was rated for 11 kW, while the new one is 7.4 kW. This will lead to delayed charging time. Meanwhile, Hyundai has added the electric footsteps to the Creta EV to make the ingress and egress easier. This is something that most buyers will appreciate, especially buyers who travel with aged people.
Hyundai has not provided the detailed variant-wise cost break-up of the BaaS option for the Creta. But the big price drop of Rs 7 lakh is definitely inspiring for new customers. Buyers can still purchase the Creta EV without BaaS, where it is priced at Rs 18.03-24.70 lakh (ex-showroom).
Powering the electric Creta are two battery options as follows:
- 42 kWh: 135 bhp electric motor, front-wheel drive, 420 km range
- 51.4 kWh: 171 bhp electric motor, front-wheel drive, 510 km range
