Hyundai Tucson: Failed or ahead of time?
The fourth generation of the Tucson SUV was launched in India in 2022. It brought Hyundai’s international design language along with the segment-first features and a very comfortable cabin experience. However, the SUV has been suffering from poor sales since its launch.
While it competed against the equally selling Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq, it was hard to beat the Toyota Fortuner’s legacy in India. Despite the discounts and various offers, Hyundai could not attract many buyers.
Tucson was powered by a strong 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine option. Both powertrains were mated to an 8-speed transmission and an AWD system (available on the top-spec Signature variant).
In terms of features, Tucson was loaded with the Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, electric and ventilated seats, 8 airbags, and more. As of now, Hyundai has not confirmed the details regarding the delisting.
