  • Indian Chief Vintage Sturgis Edition unveiled
  • Limited to 125 units globally
  • No unit will be sold in India

American cult motorcycle manufacturer Indian Motorcycles has unveiled a beautiful limited-edition Chief Vintage at the ongoing 2026 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, USA. Limited to 125 units for select global markets, the Indian market has been confirmed not to get it.

This limited-edition, individually numbered vintage cruiser bike pays tribute to the Sturgis Rally. The Sturgis Rally was initiated by an Indian Motorcycles dealer in 1938. The event had 9 riders and 200 audience members, who gathered for a friendly race, which became a legacy over decades.

Speaking of what is special about it, the limited-run Sturgis Edition features a special red and cream dual-tone colour combination, which takes inspiration from the Indian Motorcycles sold in the early 1930s. This special paint theme is followed by the iconic retro Indian Motorcycles logo painted in multi-colours, individual numbering, ’56’ sticker on the side panels that refers to the initial racing motorcycles that participated in the Sturgis Rally.

In terms of styling, the Sturgis Edition features the retro-styled curvy mudguards, a single Vintage Espresso seat, and a wide vintage-styled handlebar with an ape-like design. The overall seating position is cruiser-styled, with the rider’s feet going forward and hands upright.

Powering the Sturgis Edition Chief Vintage is the air-cooled Thunderstroke 116 V-twin engine. This engine churns out a healthy 156 Nm of peak torque, which is paired to a 6-speed transmission. The character of this engine has been designed for a torque-rich lower power band, and a relaxed cruising.

While everything feels retro on it, Indian Motorcycles has added four riding modes (Standard, Tour, and Sport), a dual-channel ABS, LED lights, and a 4-inch coloured TFT console with RIDE COMMAND connectivity.

The pre-bookings of this special-edition Chief Vintage are now open in the international market. Sadly, this Indian won’t make it to India.
