JLR restarts production, but still a long way to go!
As per the official statement by the Tata Group-owned JLR, the luxury carmaker is now back on the production line to manufacture cars. The company was attacked by cyberattackers on September 1, 2025, which then led to a complete halt of production and manufacturing. This led to a huge backlog for pending orders and spare parts worldwide.
After restarting the main facility at Halewood in the UK, the brand has now begun operating the Solihull, Woverhampton, and Nitra, Slovekia-based production facilities. The Halewood-based plant is the most critical as it is responsible for making the most profitable models like the Discovery Sport and the Evoque.
Meanwhile, the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender models are manufactured in Slovekia. This plant is also back on the track as the list of the pending orders is still long want to complete.
Speaking on the restarting of the production, the brand stated that it has systematically begun the production in a phased manner to ensure the future safety. This was done after securing and rebuilding the IT softwares and supply chain of the brand.
Furthermore, the cyberattack was carried by a group called ‘Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters’. The hacker group claimed the responsibility of the attack and also said that it has taken the advantage of a flaw in SAP Netweaver software, which helped the group to access the customer data.
Meanwhile, the brand is yet several weeks far from reaching the full production capacity.
