JSW Motors is gearing up to begin its new innings of car manufacturing and retail in India this year. The brand had earlier announced a collaboration with Chery Automobile, which is intended to retail Chery’s various models with re-badging in India.

Exterior design, interior and features
One such model, which is set to become the introductory car, is the Jetour T2 PHEV. A test mule based on the global-spec T2 PHEV was recently spotted in close detail. The spied test car was camouflaged, but it did reveal the final exterior details of the SUV.
Since it will be a badge-engineered vehicle, the JSW version features a similar design silhouette to the global-spec T2. Details like the vertical LED taillights, roof rails, protruding wheel arches, boxy design, and squared-off LED headlights all seem to be carried forward from the global T2 PHEV.
The only expected change on the exterior will be JSW’s new badges and a different name. Similarly, the interior is also expected to retain the global-spec model’s design and features. The international Jetour T2 PHEV comes with a big 15.6-inch floating infotainment screen, Level 2 ADAS, dual-tone leather upholstery, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, etc.
Engine specs and range
Since it will be a plug-in hybrid SUV, the Jetour T2-based model will be powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which will be paired with a 26.7 kWh battery pack. This battery drives two electric motors: one assisting the front wheels and the other assisting the transmission during gear shifts.
With this setup, the global-spec T2 PHEV churns out 381 bhp and 610 Nm. Additionally, it delivers an electric-only range of up to 139 km, which contributes to a total range of more than 1,000 km on a full tank of fuel. Jetour uses a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission, or DHT, to deliver this power.
We can safely say that the Indian-spec model will retain this powertrain and offer identical figures for performance and efficiency.
India launch and price
JSW Motors will mark its entry into the Indian car manufacturing and retail industry with this SUV. Online reports hint that the debut can take place around the festive season this year. It will be a CKD model, and it will be assembled in Maharashtra, with certain parts being imported from China. Therefore, this SUV is expected to be priced around Rs 35-40 lakh in India.
