  • Based on the Ninja 300

Kawasaki India has revealed a new entry-level naked sportsbike, called the Z300. The new Z300 will be unveiled on October 18 in Mumbai and Pune, while its details will be revealed on October 19, along with the commencement of pre-bookings.

Kawasaki Z300: Streetfighter based on the Ninja 300

As the name suggests, the Z300 is a naked derivative of the Ninja 300, which is the brand’s entry-level fully-faired sportsbike in the Indian market. While the Ninja 300 has become outdated with its design and old-school features, the Z300 is going to follow the same path as the bigger ‘Z’ models like the Z900.

The Z300 will offer a sharp streetfighter look with an upright riding stance, a sculpted fuel tank, split seats, and compact dimensions for easy city manoeuvring. Some of its key design traits are likely to include the sharp twin-pod LED headlight with a small flyscreen on top, bright dual-tone colours, wide mirrors, and the 300 badging.

The Z300 is also expected to come with more features compared to the Ninja 300. It will offer a new fully-coloured TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, maps for navigation, SMS/call alerts, music controls, ride modes, and traction modes. However, we anticipate that it will not get a six-axis IMU, which means that features like cruise control, cornering ABS, etc., will remain missing.

Powering the Z300 will be the 296cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine carried over from the Ninja 300. This engine makes 38.4 bhp and 26.1 Nm on the Ninja 300, and these output figures are likely to remain unchanged on the Z300. However, Kawasaki will alter the gear ratios and torque availability at lower RPM for better tractability.

The hardware parts will include a set of USD front forks, a preload-adjustable rear monoshock suspension, 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels, 290 mm front and 220 mm rear petal disc brakes with a dual-channel switchable ABS, and a two-in-one exhaust system.

With that said, the Z300 will be officially available for pre-bookings from October 19 in India. It is likely to be priced alongside the Ninja 300, which is currently available for Rs 3.37 lakh (ex-showroom).
