KTM 390 Adventure X price hike – Here’s why it happened

The latest price correction for the 390 Adventure X has happened after KTM held back the GST 2.0 price revision for months. Last year, the government of India introduced the new GST 2.0 slabs, which hiked the GST from 18% to 40% on two-wheelers with a 350cc engine or above.

However, Bajaj held the old prices and absorbed the losses to ensure that the customers did not get affected until a solution was found. Now, the brand has downsized the 399cc engine to a 350cc unit, which has recently debuted on the Triumph 400 range.

While this engine is being planned for KTM bikes as well, the original 399cc engine models will now be sold as a premium product. Hence, Rs 17,000 hike for the 390 Adventure X has came into effect. Not just the ADV, but the 390 Duke also went through a steep price hike of Rs 40,000 for the same reason.

With that said, the 350cc KTM models are likely to debut in the coming months. A few online reports also hint that KTM will sell both model range, i.e. the 350cc and the 399cc side-by-side.

The new 390 Adventue X is now priced at Rs 3.43 lakh (ex-showroom), instead of Rs 3.226 lakh previously.
