KTM RC 390 discontinued – Here’s why

The RC 390 was one of KTM’s most popular supersports bikes globally. However, due to the new Euro5+ emission norms, the brand has decided to pull the plug on it in European markets. Meanwhile, the sales have also been consistently poor for the RC 390 in Europe, which has eventually led to this decision.

While there is no information on whether it will be replaced by a new bike or not, our expectations are that KTM will launch the RC 450 with the new parallel-twin engine soon, which might become its successor internationally.

Meanwhile, the brand’s Indian website is not showing the rates anymore. So, this could also be a possible hint that the global product of the RC 390, which Bajaj does in India, might be ending soon.

But the question is, what will become its replacement in India? Well, Bajaj has lately announced that it is developing a new 350cc platform by reworking the 400cc engine used on Triumph and KTM bikes recently. This is being done to evade the high taxation on the bikes above 350cc. Hence, there is a possibility of a 350cc RC coming soon in India.
