Mahindra Vision SXT design patented, looks similar to the concept

Key highlights

  • Mahindra Vision SXT design patented
  • To be based on the NU_IQ platform
  • Likely to hit the production line next year

Mahindra has patented the design of the Vision SXT rugged SUV. The leaked design patent image online shows that the production version is likely to retain a lot of design highlights from the concept model.

The Vision SXT was showcased last year along with the reveal of the NU_IQ platform, which has been designed to house a new breed of SUVs with ICE, Hybrid, and EV powertrain compatibility. The Vision SXT design patent shows that the production version will look like a Bajaj Rally truck, featuring the teeth-styled front grille, squared-off LED headlights, rugged body panels, big wheel arches with flared fenders, all-terrain off-road tyres, and a boxy profile.

Interestingly, the rear quarter design gets a small loading bay like a pickup truck, featuring the diagonal supports, which we generally see on pickup trucks like the Toyota Hilux. It will be interesting to see where Mahindra positions it, and how. Anticipating the size of it, we think that the production version of this SUV will be in a similar ballpark as the Thar 3-Door model. However, its powertrain could be shared with the upcoming Vision S SUV, which could mean that it will be more affordable than the Thar, or maybe its alternative.

With that said, there is still time before we get to know the complete details about it. The SUV is suspected to be in its initial stage of development, and it could hit the production line by the end of 2027.
