Tata Sierra EV launched with 665 km range – Rs 18.79 lakh price

Tata Motors has finally launched the electric Sierra in India from a starting price of Rs 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Sierra EV shares its underpinnings with the Harrier EV as it is based on the acti.ev+ platform.

Powering the Sierra EV are two battery packs that have been carried over from the Harrier EV. These include the following:

  • 63 kWh: 235 bhp and 315 Nm, rear-wheel drive, 535 km MIDC-claimed range, 440-460 km real-world range (C75 test)
  • 75 kWh (RWD): 206 bhp and 315 Nm, rear-wheel drive, 665 km MIDC-claimed range, 510-530 km real-world range (C75 test)
  • 75 kWh (QWD): 206 bhp (rear motor) and 138 bhp (front motor), 504 Nm torque, all-wheel drive, 624 km MIDC-claimed range

In terms of performance, the Sierra EV QWD version can sprint 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.

All battery packs are LFP and support rapid charging of up to 120 kW, which can add 263 km of range in just 15 minutes, while 20-80 per cent charging can be done in 26 minutes. Tata is also providing a 7.2 kW AC wall charger for home charging the Sierra EV.

Meanwhile, the all-wheel drive version of the Sierra EV gets off-road features like six terrain modes (Normal, Grass/Snow, Mud, Sand, Rock Crawl, Custom), under-bonnet view, low-speed cruise control, and 540-degree surround view.

The exterior styling of the electric Sierra is identical to its ICE counterpart. However, it gets the typical EV makeover, which includes a blanked-off front grille, a new connected LED lightbar above the grille, a redesigned front bumper with aero dams and silver garnish along with piano black highlights.

The side and rear profile of the Sierra EV are almost identical to the ICE version, save for the new aerodynamic dual-tone alloy wheels, which range from 18 inches to 19 inches.

The cabin layout of the electric Sierra is also similar to the ICE version. It continues to offer a 5-seater layout with a light-dark dual-tone interior theme that is accentuated by the leather upholstery and features like a triple connected screen layout, wireless charging, electric seat adjustment with ventilation, HUD, LED ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, electric tailgate and more.

The safety features of the Sierra EV include six airbags and Level 2 ADAS that offer adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, blind spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, pedestrian collision avoidance, and more.
