Key highlights

  • Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG spied with a twin-cylinder setup
  • India launch scheduled for tomorrow
  • It will rival the Maruti Brezza CNG and the Tata Nexon CNG

Mahindra will launch its first-ever CNG car in India tomorrow. The upcoming XUV 3XO CNG has been spotted undisguised while unloading at a dealership yard. The latest leak has revealed critical details about the new CNG powertrain, including the features that it will offer.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: What to expect?

Mahindra XUV3XO CNG Spied

As seen in the video released on social media platforms, the spied unit of the XUV 3XO CNG seems to be the top variant that is loaded with all sorts of modern features like the single-pane sunroof, dual-tone interior, leather seats, a large central infotainment system similar to the Thar Roxx, an idle start-stop button, dual-tone alloy wheels, etc.

However, the most interesting bit that has been revealed in this video is the twin-cylinder CNG tank setup. Mahindra has used the twin-cylinder technology that is similar to what we see on the Tata Nexon CNG. The twin tanks are positioned under the boot, and their smart integration has helped keep the boot space available for luggage.

While the XUV 3XO has the smallest boot in the segment, the twin-cylinder placement will help create a usable boot space. This will also give Mahindra a notch above the lead in comparison to the Maruti Brezza CNG, which uses the boot CNG tank. However, the Brezza CNG is still the segment leader, and it will be interesting to see whether the XUV 3XO CNG will be able to beat its sales or not.

The rest of the car is similar to the petrol or diesel version. The only differentiating factor is the CNG stickers on the windshields. Meanwhile, Mahindra could introduce new colours with the CNG powertrain.

The price and other details will be revealed tomorrow alongside the debut of the car. We are driving it soon, and a detailed review of the XUV 3XO CNG will soon go live on shifting-gears.
