Maruti Suzuki Baleno Latin NCAP crash test explained
The latest Latin NCAP rating has raised the eyebrows of every Maruti Baleno owner internationally. While the Latin NCAP is known for its most strict safety testing worldwide, the model subjected to testing was a top-spec variant with six airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, ISOFIX seats, and other safety features.
The test car managed to score an overall score of 2 stars only. However, the segregated score for the adult occupant safety is 79 percent, whilst the child occupant safety score stands at 65 percent.
As per the details, the car offered good protection to the head and neck of the front occupants in the frontal offset crash test. Meanwhile, their knees and tibias showed marginal protection. For the side pole impact test, the head, abdomen, and pelvis were rated good in terms of protection.
Meanwhile, the child dummies of 1.5 years and 3 years body structure scored full marks in the head protection in the front and side impact tests. However, the base variant was also tested by the Latin NCAP, which had dual airbags, and it scored only a single-star rating.
