Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Global NCAP result explained
While it has been a while since the Ciaz was axed in India, it is still on sale in select global markets like South Africa. When on sale in India, it never got tested for safety by any global agency, but now GNCAP has tested it and given it a single star for safety.
As per the test results, the Ciaz scored 20.86/39 points in adult occupant safety. In the frontal offset test, the head and neck were rated ‘good’ for safety, but the chest and knee area of the front passengers suffered high injuries due to the contact with the hard plastic area of the dashboard.
Meanwhile, it does better in child occupant safety, where it scored 28.57/49 points. As the car did not have the advanced safety features like the ISOFIX seats, it could not score better.
Hence, Global NCAP has awarded a 1-star overall safety rating to the Ciaz. Mind you, the tested model was equipped with two airbags, ABS with EBD, and Brake Assist.
