Maruti Suzuki e Vitara free IDS software updated rolled out

Key highlights

  • Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Service Camp announced nationwide
  • Free IDS software update
  • Faulty IDS control program reported to show lower energy consumption

Maruti Suzuki has announced a nationwide Service Camp for all existing e Vitara EV owners. The new Service Camp is offering a free IDS software update, which is reported to show lower energy consumption than the actual value on some units. Therefore, as a safe solution, Maruti is now updating the IDS software of all e Vitara units sold nationwide.

The IDS is basically an Integrated Display System that shows the essentials of a vehicle. In e Vitara, this system is used to monitor battery health and electric motor performance while displaying essentials like real-time energy consumption and average consumption. As per the brand, this IDS control program on the existing units that have been sold is faulty and shows lower energy consumption than the actual consumption.

The IDS software update will be carried out at the official dealership service centres free of cost, as per the availability of the owners. Moreover, the company has also claimed that this issue does not affect the battery performance or range of the vehicle in any sense, as it is merely a software glitch that will be removed with the update. Additionally, the warranty of the vehicle will also remain unaffected by this software, as it is one of the major concerns of EV owners nationwide.

Speaking of the e Vitara, it is sold in two battery variants: 45 kWh and 61 kWh. The first-ever Maruti EV has steadily gained pace among rivals like the MG Windsor EV and the Hyundai Creta Electric, as the brand has sold 9,861 units in the first six months of the car’s launch. With the upcoming festive season lined up ahead, we suspect that sales will gain further momentum.
