Maruti’s first-ever electric car has a launch timeline now. The e Vitara will be launched in India in December 2025, the brand has recently confirmed.

Maruti debuted the e Vitara electric SUV earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Show 2025. However, the plans of launching it in India by March 2025 were tarnished by the supply chain issues due to the rare earth minerals crisis.
While the brand has started producing the e Vitara at the Gujarat-based production plant and even started exporting it, its local launch has been delayed for over 9 months. Now, the brand has confirmed it will debut in December 2025.
The e Vitara will compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric and Mahindra BE 6e in India. Considering that it will be offered with a 49kWh and a 61kWh battery pack option, we suspect it will be positioned between Rs 20-25 lakh.
The e Vitara uses the Heartect-E platform, a specially made architecture to house the new EV powertrain. The brand is also offering an AWD version of the e Vitara in Europe. Although we suspect that it might not be launched in India initially.
As far as the battery specs are concerned, the 49kWh battery offers 144 bhp of power and 344 km range. Meanwhile, the 61kWh battery pack offers 174 bhp (184 bhp on the AWD), while the maximum range stands at 428 km (394 km for the AWD).
Suzuki has equipped the e Vitara with modern features like leather seats with ventilation and electric adjustment, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a Level 2 ADAS suite, digital console, a connected screen panel, a dual-zone AC, and more.
