- 2027 Tata Nexon spotted loaded on a trailer
- Battery cables and other EV powertrain details visible
- It is expected to be launched later next year
The next-generation Nexon is under development. While online rumours hint that Tata will rename it to Nexon Garud, an early prototype test mule was recently spotted on a trailer.
The interesting bit about the new spy shots of the next-generation Nexon is that this particular model is an EV. A closer look reveals the low-resistance tyres and orange cables that run from the battery to the electric motors.
Additionally, the large battery pack with a cover is also visible. The test mule is covered with heavy camouflage, but we can assess that it will undergo a massive design revamp.
As seen on the early prototype test mules, the latest one also features a heavily redesigned rear quarter with an upright stance and a bigger rear window. This further solidifies that the rear passengers will get more headroom on the new-gen model.
It is understandable that Tata will give the new-gen Nexon a complete design makeover. However, it will be interesting to see whether the new model will shift to a new platform or not.
With the EV prototype being spied on, we are confident that Tata will not alter the platform extensively. But there will be some alterations to improve the structural strength and add new safety features.
The new-generation Nexon will be launched in 2027. Along with a complete design overhaul, it will come with refined powertrains and an improved list of features.
It is likely to get a CNG+automatic powertrain combination as well. However, it is too early to make a statement regarding the changes, as the next-gen Nexon is still under the early stage of the development.
