Range Rover has taken its idea of luxury a few notches further with the SV Ultra, which has now arrived in India at Rs 3.8 crore (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The new model sits at the top of the Range Rover family and brings together bespoke finishes, a high-end cabin and some seriously interesting audio technology.
Electrostatic sound system
The SV Ultra introduces SV Electrostatic Sound, claimed to be the world’s first use of electrostatic audio technology in a car. Instead of conventional speakers, the system uses 21 thin-film transducers integrated into the headrests, seatbacks and existing speaker locations around the cabin.
Each transducer uses an ultra-thin membrane that responds much faster than a conventional speaker. Range Rover says the technology can use up to 90 percent less power and weighs up to 90 percent less than the coil speakers it replaces.
The system works alongside Range Rover’s Body and Soul Seats and Sensory Haptic Floor, allowing occupants to not only hear music but also feel it. There are six wellness programmes, ranging from Calm to Invigorating, designed around relaxation and focus.
Exquisite cabin
The SV Ultra gets an exclusive Titan Silver exterior finish, which uses fine aluminium flakes and special pigments to give the body a liquid-metal effect. It is paired with Satin Platinum Atlas and Silver Chrome detailing, along with 23-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, Range Rover has gone for a duo-tone Orchid White and Cinder Grey Ultrafabrics interior. The seats get a laser-crafted mosaic pattern, while a natural open-pore rattan palm veneer adds some texture to the dashboard and cabin.
Underneath all that, the SV Ultra gets a 537 PS petrol mild-hybrid V8. Range Rover says a fully electric version will join the line-up later this year.
