Renault has rejigged the Kiger compact SUV variants in India. The French carmaker has introduced a new Evolution+ trim with three powertrain options. Meanwhile, the Techno Turbo variant, which was earlier available only with a CVT automatic gearbox, is now available with a 6-speed manual gearbox option at a lower price.
What is the Renault Kiger Evolution+ variant?
The new Evolution+ trim sits above the Evolution trim, and it adds more features to the latter. These features were previously available on the higher trims, which include the likes of the push button start/stop, automatic climate control, driver seat height adjustment, light fabric upholstery, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Evolution+ variant is available with three powertrain options:
- 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT automatic gearbox, 72 bhp and 96 Nm
- 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox, 100 bhp and 160 Nm
With that said, the Evolution+ Turbo variant is now the most affordable variant of Kiger to offer the turbo petrol engine with a manual transmission. It is now priced at Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it Rs 1.44 lakh affordable than the Emotion Turbo variant, which was the entry-point of the turbo variants previosuly.
Meanwhile, the non-turbo Evolution+ variant is priced at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a value-for-money model in terms of packaging.
