- 2027 Kawasaki KLX230 range launched at Rs 1.80 lakh
- Gets a new S variant with lowered seat height and less suspension travel
- Mechanically remains unaltered
Kawasaki has launched the updated MY27 KLX230 dual-sport dirt motorcycle in India. The updated model has not received any change to its engine specifications or design, but it adds a new ‘S’ variant that offers a lowered seat height and less suspension travel, along with a lowered ground clearance for easy city use.
The updated MY27 KLX230 range now starts from Rs 1.89 lakh. The KLX230R S, which is essentially a road-illegal model aimed to train the riders for off-road, is available at Rs 1.89 lakh. Meanwhile, the ‘standard’ KLX230 is positioned at Rs 2.19 lakh, as opposed to Rs 1.84 lakh previously. This has made the KLX230 Rs 35,000 more expensive than the prices of the outgoing model. Mind you, all the prices mentioned are ex-showroom.
Meanwhile, the new KLX230 S is also priced at Rs 2.19 lakh, but it offers a 50 mm lower seat height, which is 830 mm as opposed to 880 mm on the standard KLX230. Additionally, its suspension travel has been reduced by 60 mm on both ends to make it easy to ride in the city. This has led to a drop in its ground clearance, which stands at 220 mm, as opposed to 255 mm on the standard model.
With that said, the new MY27 KLX230 is available in two colours: Lime Green and Battle Grey. The engine on all three variants is the same as the previous version. The E20-compliant 233cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor makes 19 bhp and 19 Nm, and it is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Kawasaki has announced that the deliveries of the KLX230 S will start from mid-August 2026, and the KLX230 and KLX230R S deliveries will start from mid-September 2026. The pre-bookings of all the versions are now open pan-India.
