Renault Triber 100 PS launched at Rs 7.84 lakh with new RGEP platform

Renault India has expanded the Triber lineup with the new Triber 100 PS, priced from Rs 7.84 lakh to Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new version brings a turbo-petrol engine, extensive engineering changes and Renault’s new Group Entry Platform (RGEP) to the sub-4-metre seven-seater.

New engine

The biggest change is the new 1.0-litre TCe 100 turbo-petrol engine, which produces 100PS and 180Nm. Renault claims a certified fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl, making the Triber 100PS one of the more fuel-efficient petrol seven-seaters in the segment.

The engine is paired with a new Renault Engine Management System (R-EMS) designed to improve responsiveness, performance and efficiency. The Triber 100 PS is offered exclusively with a manual gearbox.

More than just an engine upgrade

Renault says the Triber 100 PS has been extensively re-engineered around the new RGEP architecture. Changes include revised suspension geometry, front and rear anti-roll bars, MTV damper technology, structural enhancements, optimised braking calibration and dedicated vehicle dynamics tuning for Indian roads. It also gets a BLDC cooling fan as part of its revised thermal management system.

Despite these changes, the Triber retains its core 5, 6 and 7-seat configurations, removable Easy-Fix third-row seats and sliding/reclining second row. It offers up to 625 litres of boot space in five-seat configuration and 182 mm ground clearance.

Features and prices

The Triber 100PS gets features such as an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital instrument cluster, automatic AC, cruise control, wireless charging and rain-sensing wipers. Six airbags and 21 safety features are standard.

The new turbo-petrol version sits alongside the existing naturally aspirated Triber range, which starts at Rs 5.81 lakh.

Final Thoughts

The Triber 100 PS is a substantial mechanical update rather than simply a new engine option. Renault has retained the MPV’s compact dimensions and clever seating while adding considerably more performance. At under Rs 9 lakh for the top variant, it also gives the Triber a noticeably different character within Renault’s lineup.
