Skoda Kushaq consumer court case details
In an interesting case that has surfaced from Chennai, a customer named TS Rajamohan brought a brand-new Sokda Kushaq in March 2023 from Gurudev Motors. However, unlike any other car purchase, it turned out to be a nightmare for the owner. The car started to get major issues within 35 days of the purchase.
According to the initial reports, TS Rajamohan visited the service centre due to multiple issues with the car, including AC cooling failure, a hard clutch, abnormal wheel bearing noise, and power window failure. This led to multiple service centre visits, which resulted in no solution for the customer.
However, even after being misled by Skoda employees, the customer went ahead and got the issues fixed under warranty. The pistons and clutch assembly were replaced, which eventually failed again. He was even told that Skoda cars are not suited for India by a Skoda employee.
Later, TS Rajamohan approached the consumer court, which further formed an inspection team from Anna University. The team inspected the car and found it to be equipped with malfunctioning power windows, a hard clutch, poor cooling, and noise from the tyres.
Therefore, the consumer court has ordered Gurudev Motors to refund Rs 16.73 lakh to TS Rajamohan. Moreover, the dealership has to compensate Rs 30,000 after finding Skoda India and the dealer cumulatively selling a defective car.
