- Dashboard design patent of Tata Avinya EV leaked
- Features a new stepped design with a two-spoke steering wheel
- Avinya EV range will share its underpinnings with the Chery-JLR Freelander
Tata Motors has been developing the premium electric car range called Avinya for a long time. The brand has already showcased the prototype, and now a dashboard design patent image of the Avinya has leaked online.
What to expect from the Tata Avinya EV?
The Avinya EV range is going to be based on the recently debuted Chery-JLR Freelander 8. After a long, unsuccessful stint of co-developing the Avinya with JLR on the Range Rover EV platform, Tata turned to the Chery-JLR venture, which happily agreed to share the Freelander underpinnings for the Avinya EV range.
The dashboard design patent image shows that the Avinya EV will focus on a futuristic design and offer a premium experience. The dashboard seen in the patent has a curved top cowl, which is followed by a stepped design that boasts the horizontal AC vents, a big infotainment screen at the dashboard, and a new two-spoke steering wheel.
Interestingly, the lower portion of the dashboard does not have any physical control buttons, which suggests to us that it will not feature physical buttons, and most functions will be controlled by the screen. The first Avinya EV will be a crossover-styled model, and it will offer a five-seater layout. The complete focus of the engineers is to offer a premium cabin experience that buyers get in the two segment above cars.
The recent plans of Tata include the launch of the Sierra EV on June 30, which will be followed by the Safari EV later this year. The first production-spec Avinya EV is scheduled to debut later this year. It could be priced around Rs 30-35 lakh.
