Toyota Urban Cruiser EV – Everything you need to know

The upcoming Urban Cruiser EV is a badge-engineered Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Toyota had already showcased the near-production model at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, and now the car will be officially launched on January 19.

Speaking of the details, it shares the same platform and battery specs as the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. However, the differences largely include the visual and cosmetic updates. The front fascia is the biggest change seen on the Toyota’s version, where it has a big chrome stripe between the new LED headlights and a reworked bumper design.

The side and the rear profiles are largely unchanged, save for the Toyota badges. The car is exactly the same as the Maruti e Vitara in size and dimensions. Meanwhile, the cabin is also identical, except for the Toyota badge on the steering wheel and a dark blue-black leather treatment.

The Urban Cruiser EV will come equipped with modern features, which includes the dual connected screens, panoramic sunroof, electric seats with ventilation, digital console, wireless charging, ambient lights, and Level 2 ADAS safety suite.

Powering the new BEV are likely the same battery specs as the Maruti e Vitara. These include a 48.8 kWh battery pack that makes 144 bhp, and a 61.1 kWh battery pack that offers 174 bhp. The maximum range could be 543 km, same as the e Vitara.

Since both manufacturers are in a pact, we assume that the Toyota’s version will be priced higher than the Maruti e Vitara. Therefore, the expected pricing could be between Rs 20-25 lakh.
