Triumph Thruxton 400 launched at INR 2.74 lakh

Key highlights

  • Priced at INR 2.74 lakh (ex-showroom), the Thruxton 400 is Triumph’s most affordable cafe racer
  • Powered by a 398cc TR-Series engine delivering 42PS and 37.5Nm with a thrilling top-end
  • Features clip-on handlebars, bullet seat cowl, and a dedicated chassis for sportier ergonomics

Triumph Motorcycles has officially launched the Thruxton 400 in India, reviving one of its most iconic nameplates in a new, single-cylinder avatar. Priced at INR 2.74 lakh (ex-showroom), the Thruxton 400 joins the brand’s Modern Classic line-up and slots above the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X.

This isn’t just a styling exercise. The Thruxton 400 is a purpose-built cafe racer with a dedicated chassis, revised suspension, and sportier ergonomics. It’s designed to deliver a more engaged ride, whether you’re carving twisties or just flexing at the local cafe.

Design

The Thruxton 400 nails the retro racer vibe with:

  • Clip-on handlebars and bar-end mirrors
  • Colour-coded bullet seat cowl and semi-fairing
  • Sculpted fuel tank with Triumph’s triangle badge
  • Compact LED lighting and minimalist rear section

Available in four dual-tone colour schemes—Lava Red Gloss, Pearl Metallic White, Phantom Black, and Metallic Racing Yellow.

Engine and Performance

At its heart is the most potent version of Triumph’s TR-Series engine:

  • 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder
  • 42PS at 9,000rpm, 37.5Nm at 7,500rpm
  • 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch
  • Ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control, and ABS

Compared to the Speed 400, the Thruxton revs higher and harder, offering a more thrilling top-end.

Chassis and Ride Dynamics

The Thruxton 400 gets:

  • Dedicated chassis with revised geometry
  • USD front forks and preload-adjustable monoshock
  • Sporty riding posture with rear-set footpegs
  • Apollo Alpha H1 tyres on 17-inch alloy wheels
  • Dual disc brakes with radial calipers and dual-channel ABS

The riding position is aggressive but not punishing, and the suspension setup is tuned for sharper response.

Tech and Features

Despite its retro styling, the Thruxton 400 packs modern tech:

  • Semi-digital instrument cluster with LCD display
  • USB-C charging port
  • Torque-assist clutch
  • LED indicators and DRLs
  • Class-leading 16,000km service interval
  • 2-year unlimited mileage warranty

Triumph also offers a wide range of accessories, from LED bullet indicators to quilted seats and sump guards.
