What to expect from the KTM 690 Rally?
The test mule of the 690 Rally variant shows that it will be based on the current 690 Enduro R model. While the latter is a trail-oriented motorcycle, the Rally 690 will focus on hardcore off-roading as well as touring capacity.
Therefore, the test bike can be seen with quite different features with respect to the Enduro R. First, it gets a rally windscreen and a rally tower instrument cluster setup. Additionally, the fuel tank appears to be larger than the Enduro R, possibly 16-17 litres.
Moreover, it is equipped with knobby tyres and a long-travel suspension, while the frame and the sub-frame look similar to the Enduro R model.
Powering the 690 Rally is going to be the same 693cc LC4 engine as the Enduro R. It makes 79bhp and 73Nm on the Enduro R, and we suspect that these figures will remain unchanged on the Rally version. However, we do expect the sprocket size and the gear ratios to be changed.
The split fuel filter and the dual seat setup suggest that it will be road-focused as well, and not completely built for the hardcore off-roading. The global launch of the 690 Rally could take place in the coming months, and it is unlikely to be launched in India.
