- Likely to be offered with a 56.7 kWh battery pack
- It will rival the Mahindra XEV 9E post-launch
JSW MG Motor India is working on a new three-row SUV. This upcoming SUV model will be the MG Starlight 560, which will be introduced in hybrid and electric guise in India later this year. The ongoing tests have already revealed the camouflaged design of the SUV, and it was recently spied in its EV avatar at a charging station.
What to expect from the MG Starlight 560 EV?
The Starlight 560 is basically a Wuling car, which is a Chinese carmaker. MG will bring the Starlight 560 to India soon, and the brand is testing the upcoming SUV in real-world scenarios.
The Starlight 560 is basically a full-size SUV, which is expected to go on sale in five- and seven-seater variants. While JSW MG will launch it with a hybrid engine, it will also get an electric version, which you can see here in the spy shots.
Since the Starlight 560 is already available in China, the spy shots show a similar design to the Indian-spec model as the Chinese model. The SUV features a boxy silhouette with sharp daytime running lights and LED headlights, along with chunky five-spoke alloy wheels and a crossover-like side profile.
The Chinese-spec Starlight measures 4,745 mm, which places it in the same category as the Mahindra XEV 9E. The EV version will feature the blanked-off front grille with an aerodynamic front bumper for improved airflow.
On the inside, the Chinese-spec comes loaded with a spacious cabin design featuring dual-tone leather upholstery, soft-touch materials, and features like an 8-inch digital driver console, a 12.8-inch floating infotainment screen, a 6-speaker sound system, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and Level 2 ADAS safety features.
The Indian version of the Starlight 560 EV is expected to feature the same 56.7 kWh battery as the Chinese-spec. It is paired with a front-axle electric motor and produces 134 bhp and 200 Nm. The certified range in the CLTC cycle is 530 km, and we expect a similar figure for the Indian-spec model.
The expected launch timeline of the MG Starlight 560 is around the festive season later this year. It could be priced around Rs 25-30 lakh.
