Keeping the inside of a car clean sounds simple until you actually have to do it regularly. Dust finds its way into the dashboard, crumbs settle between the seats, dirt collects around the floor mats and those difficult-to-reach corners seem to attract everything you don’t want inside the cabin. A regular household vacuum can obviously handle most of this, but carrying one around for a quick clean isn’t particularly practical. This is where something like the XECH V-Gun Pro starts to make sense.
The V-Gun Pro is a compact cordless handheld vacuum cleaner that also works as a compressed-air duster. So instead of being restricted to simply sucking up dirt, it can also be used to blow dust out of tighter areas before you clean them. It is designed primarily for cars and light cleaning around the house or workplace, including desks, cabinets and window panes.
Vacuum and blower
The biggest advantage of the V-Gun Pro is its dual functionality. You can use it as a cordless vacuum cleaner to pick up dust and small debris, but it can also be switched over to work as a compressed-air duster. That second function is particularly useful in a car because there are plenty of areas where simply vacuuming isn’t very convenient.
Think about the gaps around the air-conditioning vents, the area between buttons and switches, the edges of the dashboard or the narrow gaps around the centre console. Blowing the dust out of these areas can be easier than trying to position a vacuum nozzle precisely into every small opening. You can then vacuum up the loosened dirt.
Compact size
With a product like this, portability matters almost as much as suction power. The V-Gun Pro is designed to be compact and lightweight, which means it can be stored in the car without becoming another bulky accessory taking up valuable boot space. That also makes it easier to use for small cleaning jobs without having to bring out a larger vacuum cleaner.
This is particularly useful if you prefer to clean your car little and often. Instead of waiting until the cabin needs a proper detailing session, you can quickly remove accumulated dust, crumbs and small debris when required.
The same principle applies outside the car. XECH lists work desks, cabinets and window panes among the intended applications, so it can also serve as a small general-purpose cleaning device around the home or office.
Cordless operation
The V-Gun Pro is rechargeable, so there is no power cable to deal with while cleaning. That may sound like a minor detail, but it is one of the biggest reasons why a compact handheld cleaner is useful inside a car. You can move from the driver’s footwell to the rear seats and then into the boot without having to worry about finding a suitable power socket or keeping a cable stretched across the vehicle.
It also makes quick cleaning less of a chore. If you notice some dirt on the seat or floor, you can simply pick up the V-Gun Pro and deal with it rather than setting up a larger vacuum cleaner.
Of course, being battery-powered also means that you have to keep it charged. If it spends months sitting in the car unused, it is worth checking its charge before relying on it for a larger cleaning job.
How useful is the suction?
XECH describes the V-Gun Pro as having powerful suction, although the supplied specifications don’t provide a specific suction-pressure or airflow figure.
For dust, crumbs and smaller debris inside the cabin, that makes sense. If you have a heavily soiled carpet, large quantities of sand or deeply embedded dirt, you would still be better served by a more powerful full-sized vacuum. The blower function also gives it another way of dealing with loose dust, particularly in places where conventional vacuuming is awkward.
The washable filter
A handheld vacuum is going to accumulate dust fairly quickly if it is used regularly, and having a washable filter means you don’t necessarily have to keep buying replacement filters simply because the existing one has collected dirt. You can clean it and put it back once it is ready for use.
As with any vacuum, however, regular maintenance is still important. A compact cleaner can lose effectiveness if the filter becomes excessively clogged, so keeping it clean should be part of the routine rather than something you think about only when suction drops.
Is the XECH V-Gun Pro worth buying?
The V-Gun Pro isn’t trying to be a replacement for a professional vacuum cleaner, and I don’t think it should be judged on that basis. Its appeal is the combination of compact size, cordless operation and two cleaning functions in one handheld device.
The vacuum handles everyday dust and small debris, while the blower allows you to dislodge dirt from tighter areas. The rechargeable design eliminates the need for a power cable, and the washable filter should help keep running costs under control.
