The new update for the Defender brings styling tweaks to the iconic Land Rover SUV. While the overall silhouette remains unchanged, the new Defender now gets a Vertex variant.

The Vertex variant is positioned along the X variant, and it offers an extended Exterior Package, which adds redesigned bumpers with a silver matte finish, new 22-inch Satin Dark Grey alloy wheels, a new front grille, new foglights, body-coloured lower body cladding and a spare wheel cover. Customers can also opt for the 22-inch Gloss Black alloys, or 20-inch Satin Dark Grey alloy wheels as an option.

Land Rover is offering various exterior colours on the 2026 Defender: Fuji White, Santorini Black, Woolstone Green, Patagonia White Matte Wrap, Borasco Grey, and Carpathian Grey. There is also a new, unique paint shade called Namib Orange. The interior design of the Defender Vertex variant features Windsor leather upholstery that is mixed with the Forged Textile treatment.

The Forged Textile has been carved out from 100 per cent knitted polyester, and it is now added to the complete Defender lineup. Other additions include a three- or four-zone climate control system depending on the variant, an air quality sensor, and a domestic power socket.

Defender 110 gets more seats

The new 2026 Defender 110 variant has now been upgraded with a six-seater layout. The new six-seater configuration replaces the outgoing bench-type second row seats. This has improved the interior space for the third-row passengers by adding more legroom, more storage spaces, and improving the ingress and egress.

Defender Octa V8 is now less powerful

The range-topping Defender Octa, which is a performance variant, has undergone emission regulation revisions in Europe and other select markets. The Euro 6e emission-compliant exhaust system has led to detuning of the Octa, as it is now 93 bhp less powerful than the previous version. The Euro-spec Octa V8 now makes 533 bhp, as opposed to 626 bhp produced previously. However, the torque remains unaltered, which is 750 Nm.

Interestingly, the more powerful Octa V8 will still be available in markets like India, where emission norms are not as tight as the Euro emission norms. Meanwhile, the Euro-spec Octa has also become slower due to the detuning, as it does 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds now, which was flat 4 seconds earlier.
