The upcoming Volkswagen Virtus facelift was recently spotted testing with partial camouflage and new design updates. The new Virtus is expected to be launched in India by the Diwali festive season later this year. It will likely offer mild cosmetic changes and a new 8-speed automatic gearbox similar to the Taigun facelift.
The particular test car was spotted in a black exterior colour, featuring black alloy wheels, indicating that this was a GT variant. The fascia of the test car had camouflage, which hid the new bumper, a new grille, and a set of new LED headlights. Similarly, the rear design was also covered, but we could spot the new LED taillights and a mildly redesigned rear bumper.
Mind you, the Taigun facelift was also launched a few months ago with similar cosmetic changes. Following the same trail, the Virtus facelift is likely to feature a redesigned interior theme with a new digital driver cockpit, a new infotainment screen with an updated user interface and more wireless features, front seats with electric adjustment and ventilation, a wireless phone charging pad with cooling, new cabin LED ambient lighting, and possibly rear massaging seats.
Under the bonnet, the Virtus facelift will remain unaltered. It will continue to offer the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, but now with a new 8-speed AISIN-sourced automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the 1.5 TSI engine option will be offered with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
Sadly, the current platform is not compatible with the 360-degree camera and ADAS safety suite, which means that the Virtus facelift will miss out on these features. The expected launch time of the Virtus facelift is by the end of October, and it will most likely be priced in a similar ballpark as the current model.
