2027 Hyundai Tucson specifications revealed: Gets more power

Key highlights

  • 2027 Hyundai Tucson specs revealed
  • Gets 11 bhp and 12 Nm more than the previous version
  • Delivers up to 17.4 km/l fuel economy

Hyundai has unveiled the new-generation Tucson specifications for the global market. This India-bound SUV is soon going to be on sale in the global market with a new hybrid engine that delivers quick performance and high fuel economy.

The new-gen Tucson uses a heavily updated 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine that is paired with a self-charging hybrid technology. This setup now delivers 242 bhp and 380 Nm, which is an 11 bhp and 12 Nm jump from the previous version. Moreover, the new Tucson can deliver up to 17.4 km/l of fuel efficiency (Korean test cycle), which is a respectable figure for an SUV of this size. Hyundai’s specification brochure also reveals that it is now 0.3 seconds quicker to reach 0 to 100 km/h.

Moreover, Hyundai will also continue to offer a non-hybrid 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine that develops 177 bhp and 217 Nm. This engine is likely to be paired with a CVT gearbox, and it will suit city driving more, as it will be slower. Hyundai’s brochure reveals that this version will be able to do 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. However, this engine is not as efficient as the hybrid version. Hyundai says it is 43 percent less economical than the hybrid engine option.

Hyundai has not confirmed the other powertrain options, but we do believe that a plug-in hybrid and turbo diesel engine options will be offered in certain markets. The Indian-spec version will debut next year, and we can safely say that the turbo diesel engine will make it to the Indian market. Additionally, the new 1.6-litre hybrid engine could also be launched in India.

The new-generation Tucson is based on the brand’s ‘Art of Steel’ design language. It has grown in size and now packs a more modular look with sharp cuts and creases. Hyundai has also reworked the interior design, which now offers more space and new technology like the Pleos infotainment console, HUD, a new dashboard and steering wheel.
