2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class: What is new?
Updated engine options
First things first, the new C-Class now packs a list of updated petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine now features a 23 bhp ISG, or Integrated Starter Generator motor, which assists in low-speed acceleration and mileage. All petrol variants (C 200, C 250, C 300) are equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
The new engine gets an electric auxiliary compressor that eliminates turbo lag. The petrol engines now deliver the following power and torque figures:
- C 200 – 177 bhp and 270 Nm
- C 250 – 218 bhp and 320 Nm
- C 300 – 258 bhp and 400 Nm
Buyers will also get an AWD option on the C 250. Meanwhile, the diesel variants are powered by the ‘OM 654 EVO’ 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. It is offered in two variants with the following power figures:
- C 200d – 163 bhp and 380 Nm
- C 250d – 200 bhp and 440 Nm
All of the above engine options are paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Mercedes is also offering PHEV variants in certain markets. These include: C 300e and C 400e. The latter delivers up to 395 bhp and 650 Nm, while delivering an electric range of 100 km.
Mercedes has also tweaked its suspension with a stiffer setup and reworked damping, which results in less body movement and improved driving feel.
Styling updates
The changes to the exterior design include the new front grille with an illuminated star pattern. The grille now extends to the lower part of the bumper. Meanwhile, the Digital LED headlights have been redesigned with the star LED daytime running lights.
Both bumpers have been redesigned as well, and customers will get new alloy wheel options ranging from 17 to 19 inches. A similar star-like LED pattern has been embedded in the taillights as well. The side mirrors are also new, and customers now get Lavender Silver Metallic and Sky Grey Metallic colour options.
New interior and features
On the inside, the changes are limited. The new C-Class facelift features an identical cabin layout as the outgoing model. Moreover, it runs on the new MB.OS software update that receives OTA updates and the new virtual assistant, which uses ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Bing AI.
Customers will like the new three-spoke steering wheel that is similar to the S-Class. It features a flat-bottom design and physical control buttons. The interior theme has also been updated with two options: warm beech brown and cherry red.
The cabin also gets two new trims: open-pore birch wood and anthracite birch wood with high-gloss silver metal inserts. The cabin NVH has also been improved with new window seals, a new outside mirror design, and extra insulation.
Some key features of the new C-Class are as follows:
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- 64-bit custom ambient LED lighting
- Dual-zone climate control
- Wireless charging
- Powered front seats with ventilation, heating, and massage function
- Level 2 ADAS safety suite
- Head-up display
- Augmented reality navigation
- Electric boot
The new C-Class is expected to be launched in India around the Diwali festival this year. It could be priced a little higher than the current model.
