Powerful diesel engine to be offered

The upcoming Superb sedan will be sold with a potent 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. This will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and it will offer 150 bhp of peak power and 360 Nm of peak torque.

Unlike the European model, the Indian-spec car will be a front-wheel-drive unit, and it will offer high fuel economy. The brand also says that it can do 0-100 km/h in just 9.2 seconds, with a top speed of 225 km/h.

This engine can also deliver upwards of 20 km/l, and even the car displayed at the event showed a 690 km range on half a tank. Moreover, the Indian-spec model will also get the Dynamic Chassis Control and Progressive Dynamic Steering, both improving the ride quality and handling, depending on the road and driving conditions.

L&K variant only

Skoda has revealed that the Superb diesel will come via the CBU, or Completely Built Unit way. This means that only a handful of units will be sold, and that too at a high price. Moreover, the brand will only offer it in the L&K variant, which is the range-topper.

In terms of the exterior design, the new Superb features a sleek and timeless look. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and features the Matrix LED headlights, the signature Skoda front grille with vertical slats, along with the wraparound LED taillights and ‘L&K’ badges.

Comfortable interior but less on features

On the inside, the Indian-spec Super will feature a spacious and comfortable interior design with dual-tone leather upholstery and soft-touch leather treatment overall. It will also get the leather-wrapped two-spoke steering wheel with touch controls for the Level 2 ADAS and multimedia.

Other features will include a 12.9-inch central infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, wireless charging, ventilated front seats with powered adjustment, a three-zone climate control, electric boot, a 14-speaker Canton sound system, massaging front seats, ‘Sleep Package’ with adjustable rear headrests and two blankets, and more.

However, it will miss out on features like a sunroof, which seems to be the norm in the segment, or even in the two segments below it nowadays.

With that said, the Superb diesel is likely to be priced around Rs 65 lakh in India, and it will be launched next year.
