Mahindra XUV 3XO to get ADAS? Spied testing

Key highlights

  • The Mahindra XUV 3XO has been spotted testing with multiple radar modules and a LiDAR unit, hinting at next-gen ADAS capabilities.
  • The SUV is expected to feature India-specific ADAS algorithms, developed in collaboration with Bosch.
  • Mahindra may introduce advanced autonomous driving features, making the XUV 3XO one of the most tech-forward SUVs in its segment.

Mahindra is gearing up to enhance the XUV 3XO’s safety and technology package, as fresh spy shots reveal a heavily camouflaged test mule equipped with radar modules and a LiDAR unit. The latest images, captured near Bidadi, Karnataka, suggest that Mahindra is working on next-generation ADAS technology, potentially making the XUV 3XO one of the most advanced sub-compact SUVs in India.

Spy Shots Reveal ADAS Hardware

The test mule was spotted without front and rear bumpers, exposing five radar modules positioned across the vehicle. A LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) unit was mounted on the roof rack, alongside a rear windshield camera.

These components indicate that Mahindra is testing a more sophisticated ADAS system, possibly featuring:

  • Adaptive cruise control with enhanced lane-keeping assist.
  • Autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
  • Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

India-Specific ADAS Development

Mahindra has reportedly partnered with Bosch to develop ADAS algorithms tailored for Indian road conditions. Unlike existing ADAS systems calibrated for European and North American markets, this new technology will account for unpredictable traffic patterns, unmarked roads, and varied driving behaviors.

Market Position and Expected Features

The XUV 3XO already offers Level-2 ADAS, but the upcoming update could introduce more advanced autonomous driving capabilities. If Mahindra integrates LiDAR-based driver assistance, the SUV could set a new benchmark in the sub-compact segment, competing with the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and Kia Sonet.

Expected Launch Timeline

While Mahindra has not officially confirmed the ADAS upgrade, industry insiders speculate that the next-gen XUV 3XO could debut by late 2025, possibly as a mid-cycle update or a special variant.
