Ola Electric 4680 Bharat Cells technology explained
To eliminate the dependency on foreign companies for providing battery cells, and to reduce the manufacturing cost by completing the manufacturing 100% in-house, Ola Electric has now received the nod of approval from ARAI for its 4680 Bharat Cells.
As per the details, this is a completely in-house built battery technology, which the brand plans to use on all of its EVs. The first EV to get equipped with it is going to be the S1 Pro electric scooter. Later, this tech will be introduced in other EVs as well.
Mind you, the majority of the manufacturers are dependent on China for receiving the battery cells. By making the 4680 Bharat Cells, Ola has become the first Indian manufacturer to build and use a complete in-house EV manufacturing process.
Speaking of the ARAI testing, the report claims that the 4680 Bharat Cells were rigorously tested for endurace by passing through the shock, heat, water immersion, and other tests. The testing agency has found the battery cells to be intact and safe for use.
