New Hyundai compact SUV – What is it?
The newly surfaced spy shots of an unknown compact SUV with TN temporary registration plates hint that Hyundai is cooking something big. A compact SUV, that too a new Hyundai, will certainly be an interesting product, as the C-SUV segment happens to be the most competitive and crowded in India, with rivals like Maruti and Tata.
Is it a Bayon-based crossover?
Let’s dissect what this unknown SUV could be. For instance, if it is an ICE model, it is most likely the Hyundai Bayon-based model, which Hyundai had announced a while ago. The Bayon is a popular car in the global market, and Hyundai is adapting its platform to tailor a new product that will compete with the likes of the Tata Punch and Maruti Fronx.
Is it a new EV?
However, not long ago, Hyundai also announced a new made-in-India electric vehicle, which will belong to the C-SUV segment, and will use the K-GMP platform. So, if this test car is an EV, it could be this EV that Hyundai has announced for the Indian market by 2027.
Is it the Exter facelift?
But could it be the Exter facelift? Well, we think no, because Exter’s design language is different, as it has a tallboy shape, while the test car seen here has a typical SUV stance with an upright design.
As of now, it remains unclear whether this is an ICE or an EV. However, the road testing phase means it will be seen more often on the road, which will reveal more details in the future.
