The new India-spec e Vitara has been officially unveiled, as its pre-bookings have commenced and the pricing is expected to be announced soon. It is the first EV of Maruti in India, and it competes with the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG Windsor EV Pro, Tata Curvv.ev, and Mahindra BE 6.
The e Vitara is based on a new e-Heartect platform, which is offered with two battery options, including a 48.8 kWh and a 61 kWh. Both battery packs are LFP, and the company is also offering the EV with BaaS or Battery-as-a-Service, subscription service, and assured buyback options for the e Vitara, which makes it more feasible to buy.
The India-spec e Vitara is available in three variants: Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Speaking of the specs, the 48.8 kWh battery pack is available on the Delta (2WD), whilst Zeta and Alpha can be had with both battery options. There is also an AWD option on the top-spec variant with 300 Nm of torque on offer. The maximum ARAI-claimed range stands at 543 km.
Moreover, Maruti Suzuki is setting up an extensive charging network so that EV buyers can use their cars without range anxiety. For example, Maruti has set up 2,000 charging stations in 1,100 cities already, and the aim is to expand this network to 1 lakh charging stations by 2030. Maruti claims to set up charging stations every 5-10 km, which can be accessed via the’ e For Me’ mobile app. The brand has also established 1,500 service centres for EV repair and service support.
On the inside, it features a premium interior design with soft-touch leather upholstery, a dual connected screen display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, drive modes, regen modes, electronic parking brake, Level 2 ADAS, and more.
The e Vitara has also scored 5 stars in BNCAP crash tests, and it comes loaded with ample safety features as standard, which include 7 airbags, electronic parking brake, front and rear parking sensors, ABS, EBD, ESC, ISOFIX seats, and more.
The expected deliveries of the e Vitara will start from January 2026 nationwide.
