MG has put a rather fashionable spin on its two most expensive EVs in India. The Cyberster and M9 Couture Editions have now been priced at Rs 87.49 lakh and Rs 84.94 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom).
Both special editions have been created in collaboration with fashion designer Gaurav Gupta and will be sold exclusively through MG Select dealerships. Production is limited to just 50 units of each model, making these considerably rarer than the standard Cyberster and M9.
What makes the Couture Editions different?
The two EVs get a bespoke exterior treatment based around Gupta’s Serpent Infinity motif. Both cars use white as the base colour, with contrasting streaks flowing across the body.
The Cyberster gets orange streaks, gold-finished MG badges and Serpent Infinity badges on the bonnet. The tonneau cover also gets embroidery featuring the motif.
The M9 takes a more understated route. It gets charcoal-coloured streaks, a Serpent Infinity badge on the front bumper and two decorative brooches around the front MG emblem. The cabin also gets a Couture Edition wordmark on the dashboard. That’s pretty much where the changes end. There are no mechanical upgrades underneath the bespoke bodywork.
Same performance, much bigger exclusivity
The Cyberster continues with its 77kWh battery and dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, producing 510 hp and 725 Nm. MG claims a 0-100 kmph time of 3.2 seconds and an MIDC range of 580 km.
The M9 retains its 90kWh battery and single front-mounted electric motor, producing 245 hp and 350 Nm. It has a claimed MIDC range of 548 km.
The Couture Editions command a Rs 4.99 lakh premium over the standard versions.
These are not meant to be the sensible versions of the Cyberster or M9. They are limited-run luxury EVs aimed at buyers who want something more exclusive and considerably harder to spot at the next charging station.
