Honda WR-V RS is coming soon to India?
Honda’s newest surprise comes in the form of a test vehicle spotting. The WR-V RS production model has been spied completely undisguised in Pune near ARAI, which further raises our eyebrows as it is highly possible that the brand is in the process of homologating the new crossover SUV.
But wait. Let’s hold our horses because Honda, being a Japanese carmaker, is brutally thrashed in the global market for being slow in updating its existing lineup. So, a new car overnight is a bit of an overkill idea. However, the possibility can not be denied as the car had a “testing vehicle” sticker on the front windshield, and it was a RHD unit as well.
In the global market, the WR-V is sold with the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and a CVT gearbox combination. It is an FWD crossover, and the car we see here is the RS, a more sporty version with sporty cosmetic updates.
However, Honda India already has the Elevate in the crossover SUV segment, and it is priced aggressively as well. In fact, the Elevate offers more space and level 2 ADAS at an aggressive price, too. But, if Honda is considering reintroducing the WR-V moniker in India, it is possible that it will get the Amaze-sourced 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and the CVT transmission.
But, all these are assumptions only as there is no news or insider information available at present that confirms whether the WR-V will make a comeback or not. Let’s hope Honda brings it again and prices it against the Maruti Brezza and the new Hyundai Venue.
