The Hyundai Verna is getting ready for another chapter, and the latest spy shots confirm that the popular sedan is gearing up for a noticeable makeover. The test mule appeared on public roads in Korea under heavy camouflage, but even with all the disguising effort, several design updates are hard to miss.
Key updates
The front end looks more upright now, with a wider grille and a new LED DRL signature hiding beneath the wrap. Hyundai has been playing with its lighting language across models, and the Verna facelift looks set to adopt a more aggressive look inspired by the global line-up. The bumper also appears chunkier, which gives the car a stronger stance. Even from a distance, this mule did not try to blend in.
The rear carries similar changes. The taillamps seem larger and are likely to get a fresh LED pattern, while the boot lid looks slightly reshaped to match the updated aesthetic. Expect the sedan to offer a more streamlined profile, which should add to both its appeal and aerodynamic efficiency. The alloy wheels appear like a new design, though they remain partially covered for now.
Inside, the facelift is expected to build on the current Verna’s strengths. The existing cabin is already tech-heavy and well finished, so Hyundai may use this update to introduce better materials and subtle layout improvements. It might also get a revised instrument cluster theme, new seat fabrics, and a more refined interface for the infotainment system. With the way Hyundai has been upping its game in cabin quality, the facelift is likely to feel more premium than before.
Powertrain
When it comes to powertrains, Hyundai is unlikely to change the current mix. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 1.5-litre turbo petrol should continue to serve duty, paired with manual and automatic transmission options. Both engines already sit well within the segment’s expectations, so the focus will likely be on refinement and smoother delivery rather than big performance jumps.
Hyundai will likely unveil the updated model early next year, followed by a quick market launch. And considering Hyundai’s recent pricing strategy, expect the facelift to stay competitive even with the additional upgrades.
