New Yamaha R3 and MT-03 coming soon?
While Yamaha has not unveiled why it has decided to discontinue the R3 and the MT-03, it is speculated that the brand is soon going to launch the MY26 models in India. Internationally, both motorcycles have already been updated with a new design and improved features. The same models are likely to be introduced in India by mid-2026.
Yamaha was importing the R3 and the MT-03 as CBU models from Thailand. Both motorcycles received a big price cut post the new GST rates were implemented. However, despite the new rates, the sales figures remained low. The online reports hint that the dealerships are left with no inventory and the brand has already stopped importing the bikes.
Mind you, the R3 and MT-03 duo is powered by the 321cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine, which remains unchanged for the MY26 models.
